Quote: Its looks like Pirates want to have their cake and eat it. Being a pirate is not supposed to be easy.
Why don't you just hunt/camp in the roid belts and then kill/pod/rape/exploit there.
Despite the best attempts by the devs to "control" pirate activity you always seem to find away around it. I have faith in you bastards, and I am sure you find some exploit and/or tactic to allow you to do your dirty work.
If you want to go on strike, fine by me, I am sure others will come along and take your place. I suggest that more people have left the game due to pirates and their use of exploits to kill Newb and non agressive players.
This game is not just PvP and neither is it just for carebares. Its all a question of balance. If you can screw the system you will and have done many times in the past and I am sure will do so again.
I am dissapointed that you would put up the surrender flag, I thought you where better than that. Your sounding more like a griefer than one of the most well known and respected (hated as well) pirate.
Think again before you quit and check out the "fix" if there is one, before you make your mind up.
I haven't finished reading all the pages yet--- but guys like you (gadgets, Terrapin, Bugeye etc)insist on taking a serious effort on Tank's part to express his valid GAME concerns, and turn it in to some sort of hate vendetta on your part. Tank is a contributing person to this game and has walked many miles in the shoes of a PvP player in this game.
Tank is trying to point out and I agree entirely that, as it has been said over and over and over again---this game is turning in to a mining simulation. PvP gaming is poor and weak for the simple reason that this game makes it impossible for two potential agressors to even MEET and CCP is going to even make it worse.
Tank should have told you losers to blow it out your arse-end but amazeingly he hasn't. So I will do it for him.
I congratulate those of you who have contributed something positive and constuctive to this thread even if you disagreed.
All good games require some sort of conflict on some sort of level. FIGHTING to see how long you can stay awake before you KILL an asteroid belt is dull. EVE-I.com~THE Info source |

What do you expect from us carebears? That we mine like hell to get into a battleship and then jump into a blockade? I really dont see why i should waste my time just to commit suicide.
I am not going to call you guys Carebears any more. I think THE CLUELESS is a more descriptive term. You can't argue with a person who has no perspective or the slightest inkling of what it is to make a career of PvPing for any reason(s).
We have stated our cases more than a few times. Now it is up to CCP which is why I am paying monthly to play. EVE-I.com~THE Info source |

Quote: I guess the point that you are missing tank is that this is not a game about individuals. Take that 200 player support you have stated you have and form a mega corp of your own. Then "together" go take over a region, you'll have plenty of PvP action till on side gets the upper hand. Once you have your region don't fall down again by thinking small, grow your corp. You can be the baddest player in the game but the wimp at the head of the largest corp can crush you at anytime and thats what the game is about. Set a few lofty goals, ie like gather your 200 fold of bad doers and go take over a region. Once you have done that and start to see what real impact you have on the game then come back and post your thoughts. Right now you are just a chicken s**t ambusher who pod's people that haven't even loaded back into the game. NO one is going to miss that if you go on strike!!!!!!!!!! but players will miss having a dangerous preditor lurking out there in space. Think about it.

Quote: Just for your info, I play about 5 hours after work during the weekdays. Weekends I never know if I am playing or not, but I usually get in at least a few hours. If you haven't ever done this sort of hunting then you cannot say I am full of anything.
USE your map it will show you right where the lanes for the bistot mining is happening.
Damn do I have to explain how to do this step by step? You guys are smart fill in the blanks for yourselves. Hell you might even figure out a better technique than I have.
I am not going to argue or split hairs with you cause I see you are on my side somewhat. I see several indies a day myself in 0.0 but tagging them is a different story as outlined in the link I posted HERE. So I am going to let it go at that. Peace PvP Brother. EVE-I.com~THE Info source |

You are probably right. But I like to think they might take notice. Tank has been playing I think as long as I have and I started playing since May of last year. We have spoken to many GMs and Devs. Tank until recently I think was UNDEFEATED in PvP vs ANY of the Devs in Chaos. Do you think they might be paying some attention to us? I don't know. Quote: Where is Tank CEO afk mining in empire space?
I will come there and personaly pod his sorry ass.
And i finaly get his version of piracy.
Kill helpless with no risk to himself.
He is now officialy nominated for "Lamer of the Year Award" too.
Merjan---I don't think you could pod player in a pod already. You comments have no wieght and you contribute nothing but insults. In every pro-pirate thread especially one that includes Tank, you are there to vomit your worthless comments and never once have I read anything constructive in your posts. Tank ... To many people hate you and your comrades for eve to give in to quickly ...
This is exactly the problem I am having with guys like Merjan. This and other threads are attempts to CONSTRUCTIVELY discuss the pitfalls of PvP and roleplaying the pirate/brigand.
Instead THE CLUELESS spew their hate and anguish cause someone destroyed their Ibis and podded them in low sec space 2 months ago. Or better yet---they ALONE went in to a low sec system armed with 1 or 2 med weapons to fend off the NPCs so that they can mine ore in 'safety' with their BATTLESHIP.
What kills me as they think they are the majority, and voice their bitterness for all of Eve. The fact of the matter is they are likely poor game players who haven't a clue about what team work is and to create/participate in an effective Corp of any respectable size.
So THE CLUELESS roam the boards searching for these threads so that the game can be nerfed to their ideal playing habits. I suggest all of us PvP players roam the game in search of these players and set your standings to them accordingly---Merjan especially. EVE-I.com~THE Info source |

Quote: My reaction is regarding the Game balance:
In real life, for every predator there are 1000's of prey.
Without this the prey will die, and extinct leaving the predator without prey. With this balance there is harmony in the system.
EVERY aspect of this in the real life goes the same for EvE, if there are only pirates in the game there is no isk made, no ships build, no guns found and no implants.
Basicly the community has 35000 players, maximum.
From this there are around 500 pirates, as far as i can count.
So for every pirate there are 500 prey in this game, thats way too low ammount to sustain the current grow of the economy and maintaining satisfaction at paying customers who dont like PvP or fights. The so called: Economic players.
You can call them carebears, weak, but they did build ships for the pirates or a target to blow up.
If i still see people having a battleship, but are not able to replace it after its shot down, this implies two things:
- There are too many pirates - The economy is drive by ppl who arent money wise.
I mean with this:
- There are too many pirates, who cause a ship to be blown up before it has been made back. - People invest money in items that cost alot but dont consider losing it and a backup plan.
IMHO there are too many pirates at the moment, and even if there were enough pirates for the prey base... The prey can hardly fight back. This is by the current systems used by Pirates:
Lag effects, deploying a drone _ONLY_ so the other guy lags isnt fighting but weakness. Same goes for anchored containers and such.
The Devs are handling THIS issue, and basicly with exploiting those lag features the pirates got themselves ONCE more taken away a feature of their profession...
I cant say i feel sorry for those who used these lag features.
How are you getting your figures? Pirates are not the only players who want to fight. Why are you comparing Eve to RL? EVE-I.com~THE Info source |

I wanted to reply to this thread and the various discussions here but as it got steadily more and more complicated I realised it would take an essay to present what I actually wanted to say;
So I wrote one.
The History of Piracy in Eve
Pretty good. You forgot to include M3G4's complete lockdown of Obe which then eventually turned in to M0o as we got routed. We were there for a long time and made game news as a result. I remember saying back then 'Hey, what about this system called Obe?...we should go there...'
This does explain a lot of the pent up frustrations we have now though on both sides of the PvP fence. I especially like the 'White Dwarf' which I insist on calling The Clueless. EVE-I.com~THE Info source |
